This week on The Kiosk

Coming up on The Kiosk this week, Sheena MacGinley of and Nick Kelly from The Irish Independent are in to review new albums from Young Galaxy and Adrian Crowley and the new exhibition Food from the late artist Gordon Matta-Clark. Shilpa Ganatra of The Irish Independent will be reporting live from Dingle in Kerry, where Other Voices (press release on the line-up is after the jump) is being filmed this weekend. Robert O’Byrne will be discussing his new book on the Gaiety Theatre. And Peter Murphy of Hot Press is in to discuss the Meteor Awards. Tune in Saturday at 11am (repeat on Sunday at 8am).

The line-up per day has been confirmed for the sixth instalment of RTE Two’s Other Voices presented this year again by John Kelly.  Three more acts are still to be announced in the coming days.

The impressive line-up already includes legendary English rock musician Ray Davies,  psychedelic Welsh rockers The Super Furry Animals, prolific alt country/rock artist Ryan Adams, Canadian singer songwriter and record producer extraordinaire Daniel Lanois,  American bluesman Seasick Steve and explosive Irish electro-punk act Fight Like Apes.

2FM’s Jenny Huston will also join the cast of Other Voices this year as a ‘roving presenter’ alongside anchor presenter and master of ceremonies John Kelly. Best known as the presenter of RTÉ 2fm’s flagship rock shows, The Waiting Room and The Annex, Huston has been associated with quality new music for many years. She will present interviews and performances with David Geraghty, Adrian Crowley, Halfset, Dry County, Jenny Lindfors and Mick Flannery – artists that will be performing at a closed location in Dingle as part of a new element in this year’s Other Voices recordings. These performances and interviews will form part of the TV series in 2008.

In addition to the acts mentioned above, the hallowed halls of St James Church in Dingle will play host to Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, Foy Vance, Kate Walsh, Candie Payne, Paddy Casey, The Answer, Dark Room Notes, Mary Gauthier, Sons and Daughters, Interference, Colm Mac Coniomaire, The Coronas,  Cathy Davey, Sinead O’Connor and The Charlatans from the 30 November – 2 December and from 7 December – 9 December. Tickets for all shows are completely sold out.

Other Voices, which is produced by South Wind Blows for RTÉ Television, will be broadcast on RTÉ Two in Spring 2008.
