Nikolai Fraiture: gifted bassist and, apparently, inspiration for the Coen brothers. Personally, I’ve always quite liked his ‘do — yes, it doesn’t make him look good, but, you know, at least it’s honest. While the rest of the Strokes have always looked like they’re trying far too hard to look dishevelled yet beautiful (I’d love a gander at their bathroom products), Nikolai, to me at least, has always been the genuinely awkward looking one, slouching at the back, all square shoulders and uncomfortable air. But now he’s really and truly in fashion — of a murdering kind, perhaps (see my No Country for Old Men post), but fashion nonetheless. Nikolai, I salute you, sir.
